Exceptional Imperial Kesi tapestry mounted on scroll

Exceptional Imperial Kesi tapestry mounted on scroll (117 x 325 cm).

The upper blue « poem hall », inscribed with imperial characters were weaved with silk threads, and  the mounting silk borders are also weaved. Musée ethnographie de Genève, Suisse.

The work of art had lost its original roller and knobs, and the entire mounting, which was the original one, was acidified and weakened. The scroll could not be hung anymore. It had to be entirely restored, including the « poem hall » and the borders, and to be remounted exactly as it was initially, adding a new roller and rock crystal knobs.
